ThinLinc server agents

Three servers with Ubuntu 22.04, 8 CPUs and 72 Gb RAM each.

Application server


abel.math.uu.se:
  • 256 Gb RAM
  • AMD EPYC 9535 64-Core Processor
You can ssh into the server:
ssh -Y AkkaID@abel.math.uu.se (see more information further down)

Matlab, Maple and Mathematica are directly available through the menu in your Thinlinc session:
  • Applications -> Education -> Matlab
  • Applications -> Education -> Maple
  • Applications -> Education -> Mathematica
The applications will then run on the server abel.math.uu.se .

You can also access the server through ssh from a ssh client on a computer connected to Eduroam, the wired university netwotk or connected through VPN.
For example, to run Matlab, Maple or Mathematica on the server from a ssh client (or from a terminal window in your Thinlic session) issue the following commands:
  1. ssh -Y AkkaID@abel.math.uu.se (provide your "thinlinc-/linux password")
  2. type "xmaple &" to run Maple 2026 or
  3. type "matlab &" to run Matlab 2025b or
  4. type "mathematica &" to run Mathematica 14.3

Please put any requests for software installation on the server abel to IT support.
